Hello Everyone! Gardening can be intimidating! There is so much to learn about when you are just starting out. I wanted to create a place where you can go to learn, get great advice, and some inspiration to help you get started and to keep you going. I fell in love with gardening when I was a child watching my father and grandmother plant rows of potatoes, tomatoes, and onions. My mother would care for flowering plants and some fruits- especially figs, and she still does today. Gardening doesn’t have to be hard. It takes trial and error. The best thing to do is just dig in and get your hands dirty. You will learn as you go and get better and better the more you do it.
My name is Jennifer Lowenthal. I live in the Houston area. I have a degree in Horticulture- which has been one of my favorite things to learn about. I also have a degree in Education. I love being a teacher, but I love gardening more. I have been gardening for 30 years and can’t spend enough time playing- I mean working in my yard. It is my true passion. My favorite topics in gardening include organic gardening, flower gardening, and vegetable gardening. I am very passionate about natives and pollinators of all kinds. I have two teenage boys, a wonderful husband, two Labradors, a cat, and one Guinea pig- whew!- that is a house full. I love to read, bake, and watch baseball. I love to talk gardening with anyone, so reach out if you want to chat.
